    How to book

For all workshops (except Aerials) you can book as a single follower, single leader, or with a partner. We'll use waiting lists as necessary to ensure a good classroom balance. Please email telling us which workshop(s) you want and which is your dance role:

This workshop follows the same type of format as our beginners weekend, but is designed for people who are already social dancing, and who easily keep up with our L1 classes. You may already be attending the L2 classes, or you may be wanting to step up to them soon. With David & Mithi.
This workshop will cover different material to the weekend in January this year.

    Saturday 1st June 2019:
Followers workshop with Caterina / Leaders workshop with David
Sometimes it's helpful to have time dedicated to focus solely on your dance role: what makes a good Follower/Leader, how to adapt to different partners, what are the difficulties. We will run 2 hr workshops in different rooms, then come together for 1 hr dance practice, with David & Caterina on hand to give individual feedback and answer questions. The principles apply to all levels, so suitable for anyone comfortable social dancing.

12-2pm           Followers Workshop: Southbank Club, Dean Lane, BS3 1DB
12.15-2.15pm  Leaders Workshop: Elephant House, Dean Lane, BS3 1BG
2.15-3.15pm    Practice time with individual feedback: Elephant House, Dean Lane, BS3 1BG
    £15 / £12 concessions. Advance booking required.

Saturday 22nd June 2019: Tranky Doo routine with Max
The first part of the workshop will concentrate on building confidence in social dancing, before moving on to teach the full Tranky Doo routine, one of the popular solo jazz routines you'll have seen at dance nights. Then go and perform it the same afternoon at The Old Duke Swing Festival - free event with 4 live swing bands!.

11am-3pm, Upstairs studio, Southbank Club, Dean Lane, BS3 1DB
    £20 / £15 concessions. Advance booking required.

Mon 15th - Fri 19th July: Summer School with David, Mithi & Caterina
A chance to spend a whole week working on your dancing, with taught classes 10am-1pm, then individual feedback. Aimed at intermediate dancers, the format each day will be approximately:
10-11am    Concentrated work on an aspect of technique
11am-12    Applying those techniques to specific moves
12-1pm      Something fun or something flash
    1-1.30pm   Lunch break
1.30-3pm   Structured practice and individual feedback

Partner rotation in the taught time, but you can choose whether to rotate or work with a fixed partner in some or all of the last 90 minutes of each day.

There will be somewhere for a relaxed drink and dance every night, expected to be free Mon-Thurs, and £8 on Fri night. The weekend 20th-21st July is the Bristol Harbour Festival, a fantastic large free festival around the Harbouside including dancing opportunities.
